THE WAR WE NEVER START but ALWAYS ENCOURAGE
Conversations about gender no longer feel like conversations, they feel like a forbidden topic. Nothing to be tampered with. Somewhere between feminism, masculinity, and the weight of societal expectations and responsibilities, men and women often meet each other in the middle with defensiveness rather than understanding and connection. It is tempting to reduce this tension to something simple, almost careless even: that we just do not like each other. But that explanation feels too easy, too shallow for the tension so deeply rooted. What exists between genders today is not pure dislike, but something more complex and more dangerous. "Mistrust". It is built quietly, through repeated experiences and scenarios, cultural narratives, and unspoken assumptions and misunderstandings. Over time, this mistrust hardens into distance, and that distance begins to look like indifference or even hostility. We stop listening, we stop bothering, we choose not to care anymore, not because we have nothing to hear, but because we have already decided what the other side will say. This is where the real conflict lies. not just in hatred, but in the belief that establishing understanding is no longer possible. Deemed useless.
